Welcome to SXSW

So, I know I should have posted this one first, but whatevs...I stayed at motel near the airport in Austin and saw this gem of a mural on the restaurant adjacent to the motel. WOW! That is all i could think when I saw this. It is all kinds of wrong, but the main thing I would like to address is:

Why is that guy pretending to take a poo on the news?!?!!?!!

Street Walking SXSW

I have been so bad about posting this last week or so and it is because I just can't get used to the time change. ughh. I feel tired all the time and feel robbed of my day when i wake up. Anyway, so here are some photos from SXSW. No bands. Just of things I saw while I walked around and went to shows. This will be a two parter.

The Perfect Bathing Suit

So, I have recently added swimming to my extracurricular activities and am getting more and more serious about it. I invested in some really nice goggles and a swim cap, but have been hesitating to buy the bathing suit. Mostly, I think it is because I hate trying on bathing suits. The fluorescent lighting added to the cramped enclosed and claustrophobic four walls they call fitting rooms keep me from ever wanting to try one on. Alas, I know I must. ahh.

I saw this bathing suit at one of my favorite discount designer stores and loved it at first sight. Then, of course like any thrifty shopper I looked at the price tag and much to my surprise I found this...

story of my life :)

Celebrate Good Times

c'mon. I saw these really amazing copper pinatas in a mall yesterday and I had to photograph them. It is seriously some of the most elaborate mall art I have ever seen. This mall manages to combine Mexican fine art w/ kitschy mall rides. I love it. It is hard to know what they are going for though. I never would have come up with putting 25 cent plastic pony rides with copper artisan art...I would like to meet the person who did.

New Art SHOW!!

K, so I have been trying to figure out the best time to have a new art show and well...really there never really is a great time, so I thought I would just set one up and give myself a deadline. We'll see how great that works! yikes! So, I have contacted the same place I had a show last time here in San Diego, CA and looks like April 30 is a GO! I still have to confirm and hope that it does work out. I have yet to produce any photos for this venture, but will get my ass into fast forward to get this production underway. I have also been tinkering with finally starting up my own band...Might happen for this show. More news to come!

Back on track

Ahhh....I am home to my sunny happy land and it feels oh so good. I love going on trips and traveling, but there is no feeling like the one you get when you get home and lay down on your own bed. So, I went on tour with my fiance and it was awesome. Short and sweet. It was great to see kids out there dancing to his tunes. I shot some show shots, but i am not posting those today. I still have to go through my memory cards. blah. I wish i could telepathically send the images i see and make into my computer. that would save me a LOT of time. Let me know if you come up with that invention.
The following photos are taken either in santa barbara, san franscisco or merced, california.
